14U lacrosse is the last level for athletes before moving on to JV/Varsity Lacrosse at Hampshire High School. This is a pivotal level for lacrosse players who are looking to play at the next level and learn plays and techniques used at the High School level.
The coaches make a major emphasis on play development, recognizing situations through set plays and playing competitive lacrosse. A big impact in the game is the increase in physical contact and stick contact as players have adjusted to using the longer D poles, they use offensive screens to create separation, full stick checking is now legal, but the use of one handed stick checks is not permitted.
Full body checking is now permitted but no take-out checks. Player contact is legal within 3 yards of a lose ball, however illegal contact will result in a penalty. Although fouls are part of the game, players are subject to fouling out of the game if they receive 3 personal fouls or receive 5 minutes of personal fouls.
